Baan Noppawong
112-114 Soi Damnoen Klang Tai, Ratchadamnoen Klang Rd., Bowon Niwet, Phra Nakhon, Khaosan / Grand Palace, Bangkok
Warm Thai welcome in a traditional teak house
Light and airy accommodation in a restored family home built in the Nineteenth Century. What we like about the Baan Noppawong is the traditional Thai decor and the little added touches. A charming place to stay.
Everything in this hotel, save for the flat-screen TVs and the freshly cut flowers, is kind of old (in a good way). The floors are teak and the internal partitions in the house are made of rubber tree wood. The family, who still run the hotel, have been collecting furniture and art since the time of construction and use these elements to create a special ambience. Bit like a museum, except they let you sleep there, and they serve you a nice breakfast in the morning. This non-smoking hotel is conveniently located: not too far from, but also not too close, to the bright lights of the Khao San Road. And, if you don't mind working up a bit of a sweat you could also walk to quite a few of the major tourist attractions.
The hotel has 7 guestrooms, all en-suite with free WiFi. Each room is themed after a precious stone. Some rooms feature four-poster beds and outdoor showers.
