First class hotel for mid-range price
Opened in 2003, the Davis Hotel was probably the first mass-market hotel in Bangkok to individualise rooms by using non-standard decorations. Overall a great deal of effort has been put into making this hotel beautiful, and it beats other hotels in the same price range hands down in this respect. We say this hotel has the wow factor without the millionaire price tag.
The main wing is definitely 'bling': you enter through an impressive teak clad lobby, past two reassuringly solid stone lions standing guard outside the front entrance. It is a great first impression and it doesn't disappoint from there on in. The facilities in the hotel are international standard. In the lobby there is a branch of Starbucks and Au Bon Pain, useful after a night on the town when you miss breakfast. There are also two restaurants, and a Moet & Chandon champagne bar. To work off all those calories there is roof-top swimming pool, gym and a spa.
This hotel has a really wide range of accommodation types. To understand exactly what is on offer you would be better off thinking about the Davis Hotel as being three separate hotels: The Main Wing, The Corner Wing, and the villas (Baan Davis). The Main Wing, the most opulent section, has 8 room types which differ in size from the Presidential Suite (145 sqm) to the Superior Room (42sqm). The Corner Wing, with which we feel the Davis Hotel has made less effort with, has 4 choices of room ranging from the Ambassador Suites (120sqm) to the Studio Room (35sqm). Baan Davis, the villa wing of the hotel, is a unique selling point for the hotel. There are 10 of these teak villas, 7 have 2 bedrooms (164sqm) and 3 have 3 bedrooms (250sqm). There isn't much of this type of accommodation available for short term usage in Bangkok so book early to avoid disappointment. Also, we should mention this hotel offers good value deals for longer term stays, so if you are coming for business booking this hotel will put you on good terms with your accounts department.
