The Eugenia Hotel
267, Soi Sukhumvit 31, North Klongtan, Wattana, Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Thailand 10110
Old world charm in Sukhumvit
First built in the late nineteenth century, this stately building was converted into a hotel in 2006. The Eugenia Hotel has the look and feel of an Indo-China French colonial house, complete with vintage car service and French restaurant. This hotel is family run, eccentric, anachronistic and unusual. If a big branded hotel is your thing, then don't stay here - you won't like it. However, if like us, you choose to celebrate the quirky and embrace new experiences, book a room and you won't regret it.
The Eugenia is a small hotel. It has only 12 rooms. The ground floor of this three storey building has a lobby, reception, bar, restaurant and library. The second and third floors contain the guest bedrooms. In keeping with the style of the building there is no elevator. At the rear of the property there is an open air pool set within an enclosed courtyard. The owners have done a phenomenal job with the furnishings. Everything is antique, from furnishing to fittings. We understand this is the result of a lifetime spent collecting objet d'art on their travels. The four poster-beds are complimented by bedding imported from Belgium. We should also mention the excellent food on offer. The D.B Bradley dining room successfully reproduces a French menu, and high-tea, replete with French pastries and Thai snacks, is served daily in the lounge.
There 4 room types on offer: Eugenia Suite (42sqm), Sawadee Suite (34sqm), Wattana Suite (34sqm) with twin beds, and Siam Suite (22sqm). All rooms are en-suite and have air conditioning.
Recently the hotel has been rebranded to emphasise the spa part of this business. The hotel is now called 'Asia Herb Association Spa Auberge Eugenia'. A ridiculous name that will no doubt not last beyond a couple of years.
