Good value for money hotel in central location
Although built in 2007, the Heritage Baan Silom Hotel looks a lot older. The facade is neo-colonial in design and the rooms are decorated in a distinctly vintage style. This isn't an expensive hotel, but we say 'well done' to the Heritage Hotels Group for going the extra mile in setting this hotel apart from others in the same price range.
The neo-colonial style and vintage decoration contrast well with the contemporary stylings of the bar and restaurant. The restaurant is of a good standard and has lots of deals running throughout the year, adding to the value for money credentials of this hotel. When we visited they were offering a meal and drink deal for 59 baht (less than 2USD). Nui's, which is within the same building, has jazz performances most evenings. The hotel is conveniently located within a lively part of Silom with lots of good bars and restaurants nearby. The transport connections are good also with Skytrain and metro within an easy stroll. Other nightlife, such as Patpong night market, can all be reached without needing to take a taxi. If you are this way inclined, you might like to note that the Gay quarter of Bangkok is a ten minute stroll up the road.
The hotel offers three types of room: Studio (24sqm), Superior (26sqm) and Deluxe (30sqm). Please be aware that you get what you pay for with this hotel, and what you pay for is generally good. We like the breakfast. Don't however expect lots of freebies in the bathroom, although unlike many of the luxury hotels in the City the WiFi is free. We say bring your own shampoo and congratulate yourself on bagging a bargain at this hotel.
