Siam@Siam Design Hotel
865 Rama 1 Road, Opposite National Stadium, Wang Mai, Patumwan, Siam, Bangkok, Thailand
Central location for the Thai/foreign cool kids
Close enough to carry your shopping home after a credit card bending excursion to Thailand's top shopping malls, just in case the chauffeur is having the day off. The oddly named Siam@Siam Design Hotel is the place to be for the man, or woman, about town, and attracts a healthy mix of foreign visitors and young Hi-So (High society in Bangkok vernacular) Thais on the town.
This 25 storey hotel has a cutting edge contemporary design and an informal feel about it. The facilities are pretty good all in all. The hotel has 5 eating and drinking venues. On the ground floor and mezzanine you will find a 24 hour bar and restaurant called Party House One which gets busy on the weekend. There is a also sushi restaurant, an international dining venue and a French/Mediterranean restaurant on the 22nd floor. We like the roof top bar which has great views, and the swimming pool on the 13th floor which hangs vertiginously over the edge of the building.
There are 3 room types to choose from: Leisure Class, Biz Class and Youth Class. Yes we know - ridiculous names. But don't forget this hotel isn't just aimed at foreign visitors, but a local crowd having the weekend away from the disapproving parents. (NB: be warned they won't call you 'Sir' or 'Madam' at this hotel, and are likely to truncate your name (ie. Robert becomes Rob). Youth Class rooms have three beds in them, and are slightly larger at 42sqm (compared to the 28sqm Leisure and Biz rooms) and would suit groups travelling together. The contemporary design theme is continued in all rooms. If you like Mondrian paintings and polished concrete you will feel right at home.
